Itinerary
Arrive at Kochi (Cochin) – a vibrant city in Kerala, South India, popularly known as the “Queen of the Arabian Sea” for its stunning natural harbor, one of the finest in the world.
From Kochi, transfer to Munnar, a picturesque hill station renowned for its endless tea plantations, lush greenery, and scenic valleys along the roads. Nestled in the Western Ghats, Munnar is often referred to as the “Kashmir of South India” because of its rolling green mountains and cool, pleasant climate, making it a favorite among travelers.
On arrival in Munnar, check into your hotel/resort. Take some time to relax and soak in the serene surroundings.
Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel/resort in Munnar.
After breakfast, proceed for a full-day sightseeing tour of Munnar.
- Jeep Safari (Optional at additional cost): Explore offbeat trails covering the Hanging Bridge, Ponmudi Dam, and a few untouched villages that are not accessible by regular vehicles.
Return to Munnar city for lunch (on your own), and continue sightseeing:
- Tea Museum & Tea Gardens – No trip to Munnar is complete without tea! Visit the Tea Museum to learn about the history of tea, the process of cultivation and manufacturing, and enjoy a tea-tasting session.
- Mattupetty Dam & Lake – Famous for its specialized dairy farm and Indo-Swiss Livestock Project. You can also enjoy speedboat rides on the lake (optional). The area is surrounded by lush agricultural gardens and sprawling tea plantations, located about 14 km from Munnar.
- Eravikulam National Park – Spread across 97 sq. km, this park is home to lush forests and unique shola grasslands. It houses wildlife such as gaurs, sambar deer, golden jackals, and Indian bisons. The highlight here is the endangered Nilgiri Tahr, with nearly 750 of them thriving in their natural habitat.
- Echo Point – Known for its natural echo phenomenon. Stand here and call out—your voice will reverberate back to you! The scenic surroundings with a flowing river, grassy hill slopes, tea plantations, and spice gardens make it a favorite for photography lovers.
- Kundala Lake – A calm and serene lake surrounded by rolling hills, tea gardens, cherry blossoms, and the rare Neelakurinji flowers (which bloom once in 12 years). A perfect place to relax and soak in postcard-like views.
- Top Station (Optional at additional cost): Visit this famous viewpoint for panoramic vistas of the Western Ghats and valleys.
In the evening, return to your hotel/resort.
