Pashupatinath Temple
Begin the day with a visit to the sacred Hindu temple of Pashupatinath, dedicated to Lord Pashupatinath, the national deity of Nepal. Located on the banks of the Bagmati River, this UNESCO World Heritage Site (since 1979) is one of the holiest shrines for Hindus worldwide.

• The temple complex is an extensive precinct of temples, ashrams, shrines, and inscriptions that have evolved over centuries.
• It is also the place where holy sadhus (ascetics) pray and perform rituals.

Bouddhanath Stupa
Continue to Bouddhanath, the holiest Buddhist shrine in Nepal.

Patan (Lalitpur) Durbar Square & Tibetan Refugee Center
Next, visit Patan, also known as Lalitpur, the city of beauty, located just across the Bagmati River from Kathmandu.

• Durbar Square is a masterpiece of Newari architecture and is packed with temples, far denser than in Kathmandu or Bhaktapur.
• Visit the Tibetan Refugee Center, home to a thriving Tibetan community known for their expertise in the carpet industry, making it a great place to shop for authentic Tibetan handicrafts.

Swayambhunath Stupa (Monkey Temple)
End the day at Swayambhunath, a 5th-century stupa perched on a hilltop overlooking the Kathmandu Valley.
